Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is a key driver of economic growth and globalization. Globally, FDI flows were approximately US$1.5 trillion in 2024, reflecting moderate recovery amid geopolitical and economic uncertainties. India has emerged as one of the leading FDI destinations, attracting about US$81 billion in FY 2024–25, marking a significant year-on-year increase. Key sectors such as manufacturing, digital services, renewable energy, and infrastructure continue to draw strong global investor interest. Liberalized FDI policies, ease-of-doing-business reforms, and a large domestic market have strengthened India’s global investment appeal. India now consistently ranks among the top global recipients of FDI inflows.
